Brief History on the Glengormley Ambulance & Rescue Unit
Glengormley Ambulance & Rescue Unit was established in 1983. They provide voluntary Ambulance Aid and provide cover for the benefit of the community in the Newtownabbey area, and when required, in Northern Ireland in general. They liaise with local statutory agencies, voluntary organisations and the public in a common effort to provide ambulance transport and ambulance aid for the protection of health and relief of sickness and distress.

The unit is run as a voluntary association and encompasses all sections of the community. As the unit is run on a voluntary basis it relies heavily on public contributions, subscriptions and such monies that are raised by members and the management.
